What Comes with a Pool Table Purchase?

Thursday, October 4th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Considering a pool table purchase? You get a lot more than the pool table itself when you purchase one from The Spa and Sauna Company.

All pool tables include a choice of felt color, a play kit, delivery and set-up.

Well, let’s take a deeper look at what that means for you. It’s an incredible value, worth several hundred dollars, and one you wouldn’t necessarily get when purchasing from a different billiards shop.

Felt Color

The pool table you choose, always comes with your choice of felt color, even if it is a floor-model. We will gladly change the felt color to any color you desire. Our pool tables come standard with Championship cloth, a $189 value. You have the option to upgrade to Brunswick Centennial Cloth, a $399 value. Centennial cloth is woven with 100% Merion wool and imbedded with DuPont Teflon fabric protector. As a thicker weave, it lasts up to 60% longer than other wool cloth.

The color choices are practically endless. You can have any color from standard tournament green to blue to khaki. You can also select two-tone felt color, which means a different color on the rails than on the bed. Two-tone felt color can create a quite sophisticated look.

Play Kit Options

Each pool table also comes with a play kit. The Silver Play Kit includes a set of Royal Crown Standard Balls, a Bronze Bridge Head, 2 HCE Players Cues, a Nylon Rail Brush, a Standard Rack and a 9 Ball Rack. It is valued at about $125.

You can also upgrade to a Gold Play Kit which includes a set of Aramith Phenolic Resin Balls, a Bridge Stick (a Gold Play Kit Exclusive item), a Brass Bridge Head, 4 HCE Players Cues, a Deluxe Table Brush, a Wooden Standard Rack and a Wooden 9 Ball Rack. This play kit is valued at over $300.

Delivery and Set-Up

Delivery and set-up cost is determined by a number of factors, but with the purchase of a new pool table the delivery and set-up is included free of charge. It’s approximately a $450 value.

Brands and Locations

As you can see, purchasing a Pool Table from The Spa and Sauna Company includes a lot more value than simply the value of your new Brunswick or Olhausen Pool Table.

New Pool Tables and Shuffleboards are available at our 9748 S. Virginia St. showroom in Reno and our 250 E. Glendale Ave. showroom in Sparks. We also carry used pool tables at our Sparks location. Visit us today to see what we have available!

3 Ways a Hot Tub Can Improve Focus in Minutes a Day – Used Spas Reno

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

In a hectic world, we’re bombarded with information, duties, priorities, and goals every moment of our waking lives. When distractions are everywhere, focus is more important than ever.

Here are three ways to improve your focus using a hot tub.

Relax the Mind
A task done well is done through focus. Put an end to multitasking. Give yourself permission to focus on one task at a time by relaxing in your hot tub. When you take the time to relax and calm the mind in the spa, you’ll be more successful at whatever the task.

Read In the Spa
Reading stimulates our brains and protects them against damage and helps strengthen our focus for the day ahead. Schedule a few minutes of morning reading in the spa to get ready for a successful day. Come evening, read in the hot tub to clear your mind and prepare for a sound sleep.

Take Time to Disconnect, Reflect, And Recharge
Make it a habit to disconnect, reflect on the day, and then refresh for a more successful tomorrow. Just a half hour distraction-free soak in the spa with massaging jets helps to calm the mind and relax the body before a deep, restful sleep.

So Go Ahead, Take a Soak, You Deserve It!
It’s fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub to help improve their overall health and well-being, The Spa and Sauna Company is providing free test soaks at all their showrooms. We do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call us ahead of time to reserve their spot.

Reno Hot Tub and Swim Spa Dealer Publishes Guide for Pain Awareness Month

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

The Spa and Sauna Company, a hot tub, swim spa and sauna dealer with 3 retail showrooms serving the greater Reno, Sparks and Lake Tahoe area publishes “Helpful Ways to Help Cope with Pain.”

“September is pain awareness month, a time to help educate people about the problems of those who suffer from chronic pain, and also give individuals with long-lasting pain help in developing the best methods for deal with that pain,” said Scott Clark, president of The Spa and Sauna Company.

Here are a few things people who suffer from chronic pain can keep in their toolkit for physical and emotional support.

Reduce Stress with a Hot Tub – Hot water therapy is a great source of pain reduction, and a spa in the backyard makes it easy to access at any time it’s needed.

A portable spa reduces pain in two ways. First, the hot water and soothing jet massage work out muscle pain and bring extra, oxygen rich blood to the injured areas. The second way hot tubs help with chronic pain is less obvious, but no less effective for managing suffering. Soaking in a hot tub reduces stress.

Stress is another unseen ailment that effects just about everyone. It’s difficult to evade daily stresses, and people who deal with chronic pain have an added source of stress to the body, pain. Spending a half hour a day in a portable spa reduces stress, both mental and physical, that increase the pain levels in the body.

Get Some Support Both In-Person and Online – Having support helps people deal with many types of life problems, but it is especially helpful for those dealing with issues that aren’t visual and aren’t easily understood. Talking to others who deal with chronic pain can help individuals feel less isolated and alone. Along with local support groups, there are many online forums and private groups that can help people find new methods of dealing with long-term pain and get through difficult issues caused by their illness.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub, swim spa or sauna to help improve their overall health and well-being, the company is providing free hot tub and swim spa test soaks. They do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call them ahead of time to reserve their spot.

How to Prepare for a Swim Spa Installation and What to Expect on the Day of Installation

Wednesday, September 19th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

A swim spa installation is a big project. There’s nothing to fear, though. With the help of the professionals at The Spa and Sauna Company, your swim spa installation should go very smoothly.

Before you make your purchase, we highly recommend you have one of our Endless Pool Swim Spa experts provide you with a Backyard Consultation (a complimentary visit which includes a salesperson visiting your home.) During this no-obligation assessment, a Spa and Sauna Company Sales Professional will discuss optimal placement in your yard, and desired privacy and view. You will also learn about the placement of the swim spa’s subpanel and placement wiring – which will be completed by your electrician. Our specialist will also discuss cover options and how they affect privacy and view. If you have or want steps or a deck, that will be reviewed as well.

There are a few things you need to do to prepare for delivery.

You will need:

  • A 6-inch reinforced concrete pad. Coordinate placement of conduit with contractor and electrician. You may decide to run conduit under a newly poured concrete pad.
  • 60 Amp 220 service. Endless Pools come with 60 amp subpanel to be installed by your electrician. Details are available in your owner’s manual.
  • A crane company, that you have researched, if a crane is required for your swim spa delivery. Crane-assisted installation is part of the delivery, but not included from The Spa and Sauna Company. We can provide references that we have worked with before. We will also gladly coordinate schedules once you have selected your crane provider. If you need recommendations on a crane company, please contact our Delivery Supervisor at 775-852-3838.
  • To know exactly where you would like your swim spa to be placed to ensure proper orientation for desired privacy and/or view.

You can do these steps before you shop, while your spa is being ordered (which can take 6-8 weeks), or even after your swim spa has arrived at our warehouse if necessary.

After you have selected your Endless Pool and have heard from our delivery department that it has arrived you will want to:

  • Fill out your Pre-Delivery Form, which will come to you via email. This form can have descriptions and photographs of access ways and your yard attached to it, which will make it easier to plan for a smooth delivery.
  • Sign any required forms. These may include financing paperwork or waivers.
  • Make sure access by crane is available, if needed.
  • Be prepared to have your electrician come back a second time to hook up your swim spa. The delivery crew at The Spa and Sauna Co. of Reno does not perform electrical hookups, but we can provide you with a list of vendors we have worked with in the past. There is no need to have your electrician on site during the delivery.
  • Be prepared to be present on the day of your delivery. This way the delivery crew can place the swim spa exactly where you would like it. They can also give you some instructions on how to use and care for your swim spa.
  • If you haven’t paid your balance in full prior to delivery, know you will be expected to pay the remainder at the time of delivery.
  • And finally, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions. We are here to help!

On the day of installation, enjoy the show. Most Swim Spas require a crane to get into the backyard. Once it has been lowered close to its final destination, it will rest on several bags of ice. This is done so that the protective cables can be removed. As the ice slowly melts, the swim spa gradually lowers into place. It’s quite a sight to see.

We hope this guide has made you feel more comfortable with the steps involved in preparing for your Endless Pools delivery.

How Much Energy Does it Take to Run a Hot Tub?

Thursday, September 13th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Have you ever wondered what the electrical cost to run a hot tub is?

To help consumers make informed decisions, Hot Spring Spas offers a Monthly Operating Cost Estimator with sample temperatures and electrical costs. Click Here to estimate your monthly costs. These figures were determined based on a hot tub set at 102 degrees and used 6 times a week. In this scenario, the jets were kept on for 15 minutes and off for 15 minutes.

For instance, a Hot Spring Envoy Highlife Spa will cost approximately $15.53 to operate if the climate is that of Las Vegas, NV, with an estimated temperature of 70 degrees and energy cost of $0.12 per Kilowatt hour. If you choose a Jetsetter Highlife, it would cost about $13.74, using those conditions. The Jetsetter is a smaller hot tub, however, so there is less water to heat and less surface area for heat evaporation.

The energy efficiency of portable hot tubs is listed on many of the hot tubs we sell here at The Spa and Sauna Company. You can see the Portable Electric Spa Energy Guide on the inside shell of the Caldera, HotSpring and Freeflow Spas offered here. It is listed on product signs next to the Sundance Spas we sell. All the acrylic hot tubs we sell are highly energy-efficient, and have foam insulation to help deter heat loss.

The California Energy Commission regulates portable electric spa efficiency. Regulations related to appliance efficiency in California were established in 1976 to reduce energy consumption. The Commission has a document of over 40 pages dedicated simply to portable electric spa efficiency.

While each spa will vary in the amount of energy it needs, a quick scan of our showroom showed that most models ranged somewhere between 100 and 250 Watts for Standby Power. Standby Power is the amount of power used at test conditions of 60 degrees. This is also known as resting wattage. It does not include spa usage or extreme cold conditions. The information allows you to compare spa models, but should not be considered the monthly energy consumption. Your energy usage will vary based on the seasonal weather in the Reno/South Lake Tahoe area that we serve, the hot tub model you purchase, the frequency that you use your spa, and the cost of electricity where you live.

After you purchase your hot tub, there are things you can do to keep your energy consumption down. Having an air-tight cover will keep in most of the heat, while the spa is not in use. Should you get a leak or find that your cover has become water logged, you should replace it. To purchase a replacement hot tub cover, Click Here. Keeping your filters clean will also lead to optimal energy efficiency by keeping excess strain off the pumps.

We hope this information has helped you make a better decision when selecting a hot tub for your energy needs or helped you keep your energy expenses down after you’ve made your investment.

Stargazing in A Hot Tub

Thursday, September 6th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

There are many things to do in a hot tub, but few are as enjoyable as a nighttime soak while watching the stars, either by yourself, with a friend, with a loved one, or with your family. As the temperatures start to drop, and nightfall begins a bit earlier, it is the perfect time to enjoy stargazing from the comfort of your own hot tub.

There are plenty of astronomical events to watch in the Reno area from the comfort of your hot tub, from phases of the moon, to general stargazing, to more rare events, such as comets, which we might see later this winter, if predictions pan out.

This month, the Fall Equinox will happen on Sept. 23 and the Harvest Moon, the first full moon closest to the September Equinox, will occur on Sept 24.

While you enjoy the celestial show, available in your backyard every night, you might want to consider some stargazing music, beverages, and snacks.

While the best beverage to consume in a hot tub remains water, because it helps keep you hydrated, adults may choose to indulge in some alcoholic beverages. Keep in mind though, that alcohol can be dehydrating, and caution should be exercised. When in a hot tub, one alcoholic drink can feel like two.

Here’s a Spa and Sauna beverage our Marketing Team created for your enjoyment! And don’t worry, we have a former bartender among us.

The Spa and Sauna Soaker

Aperol

7Up

Blue Curaçao

Maraschino Cherries

Orange Slice

Ice

Fill a glass with ice. Take ½ oz of Aperol and layer with ½ oz of Blue Curaçao. Then pour a generous amount of 7Up into the glass. Garnish with Maraschino Cherries and an Orange Slice.

The Spa and Sauna Soaker – Non-Alcoholic Version

7Up

Orange Juice

Blue Gatorade (we used Blue Cherry Gatorade Fierce)

Maraschino Cherries

Orange Slice

Ice

Fill a glass with ice. Fill glass about halfway with Orange Juice. Top with Blue Gatorade. Top again with 7Up. Garnish with Maraschino Cherries and an Orange Slice.

Eating in a hot tub can get tricky. You don’t want to use your hands to hold the food, as your hands will end up back in the hot tub water. We recommend either toothpicks or very neatly speared foods.

You might consider cubing some cheese, fruit or vegetables and using toothpicks to pick it up. Fruit kabobs would also be a nice, hydrating option. Hot tubs are not the place for anything messy that you would touch with your fingers.

Should food or drink fall into your hot tub, you will want to remove it immediately. Depending on how messy the food or drink was, you may need to drain your spa to make sure your water remains sparkling clear.

Some of our music recommendations include:

  • Yellow by Coldplay
  • Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beetles
  • Rocket Man by Elton John
  • Lucky Star by Madonna
  • Champagne Supernova by Oasis
  • Shining Star by Earth, Wind & Fire

You can stream music on your Bluetooth equipped hot tub or keep your smartphone a safe distance away. We hope these ideas help you enjoy quality time in your hot tub this season!

The Spa and Sauna Company Wins Best Of Reno from Reno Gazette Journal

Friday, August 31st, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

The Spa and Sauna Company has won the Reno Gazette Journal’s Best of Reno award in the category Best Hot Tub/Billiards Store.

The Spa and Sauna Company, with 3 locations in Reno and Sparks, was started in 1990 in California. It has been a fixture of the Reno community for nearly two decades.

The award was given specifically to The Spa and Billiards Shop, the Spa and Sauna Company’s 6,000 square-foot showroom, located at 9748 S. Virginia St., Ste. C-D, in Reno.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded this win,” said Spa and Sauna Company Owner Scott Clark. “We take pride in carrying the highest quality hot tub and billiard products and serving the Reno, Sparks, and surrounding communities. It has always been our goal to provide the best in customer service. We would like to thank our team, our customers, the community, and the Reno Gazette Journal for this award.”

The Spa and Sauna Company has received dozens of awards from manufacturers over the years. It was also recently ranked on the Inc. 5000 list, a list of the fastest growing small businesses in America, for the third consecutive time.

This award is special because it is from the community we serve.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Reno community,” Clark said.
